Allowing Guns at GOP Convention is a Great Idea

It won’t happen because Republicans are hypocrites. Donald Trump claims that he would consider it. That’s code word for he’s going to ignore the issue and hope it goes away. Because he doesn’t want some yahoo on the convention floor taking pot shots at him. Remember how he flinched when a protester jumped over a gate and starting to run in his direction. Real tough guy. But It won’t happen. His excuse will be that the Secret Service won’t allow it.

Man-up Donald. If you are a real man of principle let your supporters have their guns at the convention. The more guns the better. Please! This is the one time (and only time) that I agree with the NRA. Meanwhile, everyone sign that petition:

GOP front-runner Donald Trump said Sunday that he will take a closer look at an online petition calling for the Republican convention this summer to allow guns into the convention space has received tens of thousands of signatures on

The petition notes that Ohio is an open-carry state, but that the website for the Quicken Loans Arena–the site of the convention in Cleveland–says the venue forbids “firearms and other weapons of any kind.”

“This is a direct affront to the Second Amendment and puts all attendees at risk,” the petition reads. “As the National Rifle Association has made clear, ‘gun-free zones’ such as the Quicken Loans Arena are ‘the worst and most dangerous of all lies.'”

Speaking on ABC’s “This Week,” Trump called himself “a very, very strong person for Second Amendment,” said a question about the petition was “the first [he’d] heard of it” but that he would plan to read and consider it.

“I have not seen the petition,” he said. “I want to see what it says. I want to read the fine print.”

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Bush CIA Director: Trump And Cruz’s Responses To Brussels Attacks “Create A Clear And Present Danger”

GEN. MICHAEL HAYDEN: We don’t have radicalized communities in the United States. We have some radicalized individuals. We have it within our ability, however, to create radicalized communities and we ought to take every step not to do that. Joe, I agree totally. Our cultural bent towards assimilation is a strategic and operational advantage. Put aside the question of American values. It makes us more safe than our European friends. And so comments like that and comments that we’ve been hearing from Mr. Trump actually create a clear and present danger. They don’t make us more safe.
